WORCESTER, Mass. (10/11/24) - The Franklin Pierce women's ice hockey team was in action for real on Friday night, as the Ravens opened their season with a NEWHA matchup at Assumption. Junior Maggie Korneta (Naperville, Ill.), senior Julia Stevens (Minneapolis, Minn.) each contributed their first goals of the 2024-25 season while RS freshman Brynn Levinson (Glencoe, Ill.) and freshman Bo Dean (Ontario, Canada) would score their first goals of their career to give the Ravens the 4-0 win.

The Ravens got on the board at 8:49 with their first goal of the season. Ravens defender Korneta would find the puck near the neutral zone from Mikayla Kelley (Eagan, Minn.) and Emma Laroche (Highgate, Vt.) and rip a shot past Greyhounds goalkeeper Carissa Mudrak to go up 1-0.

The Ravens did not hesitate to start the second period. 41 seconds into the period, the Ravens offense took advantage of Mudrak's loose goalkeeping as Kelley took a shot and Stevens would tap in the rebound on assists from Dean and Laroche, the Ravens lead 2-0.

At 6:33 in the second period, once again the Ravens would capitalize on a second-chance opportunity in front of the net. Ravens forward, Levinson, would find the puck in front of the crease for a shot that would land in the net.

In the 11th minute of the third period, freshman Bo Dean would receive the puck from Korneta and take on a Greyhounds defender. Dean pulled a nifty move towards the outside to create space and would rip a shot on the short side of the net, right over the shoulder of Mudrack to give the Ravens the 4-0 lead.
