Ravens travel to Bentley on
Saturday
RINDGE, N.H. (September 24, 2014) – The
Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team was defeated, 9-0,
on Wednesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference play at Franklin
Pierce.
With the loss, Franklin Pierce
falls to 0-5 (0-5 Northeast-10), while New Haven improves to 3-3
(3-3 Northeast-10).
Senior Leslie Rodgers
(Westminster, Md.) put up the strongest fight for the
team on Wednesday, in her match at third singles against New Haven
senior Lindsey Conley. Rodgers was narrowly clipped in the first
set, 6-4, and forced a tiebreak in the second set, but ultimately
dropped a 6-4, 7-6 (7-0) decision.
In all, five different New Haven
players posted wins in both singles and doubles play on Wednesday
afternoon, led by junior Alexandra Sharshakov, who won at both
first singles and first doubles. She teamed with Conley for an 8-3
win at first doubles, before steamrolling to a 6-0, 6-0 win at
first singles.
The Ravens return to the court on
Saturday, Sept. 27, when they travel to Bentley for a Northeast-10
Conference match at 11 a.m. Franklin Pierce next plays at home on
Sunday, Sept. 28 against American International at noon.
