RINDGE, N.H. (April 2,
2012) – Junior attacker Ashley
Lamagdeleine (Westfield, Mass.) scored a game-high
seven points on five goals and two assists on Monday afternoon to
lead the Franklin Pierce University women's lacrosse team to a 17-5
victory over Southern Connecticut State in Northeast-10 Conference
play at Sodexo Field. Junior midfielder Courtney Weber
(Centerport, N.Y.) added three goals and two assists for
five points for the Ravens.
With the win, Franklin Pierce
improves to 5-3 (3-1 Northeast-10), while Southern Connecticut
State falls to 1-9 (0-7 Northeast-10).
The Ravens wasted no time seizing
control of the contest, scoring the opening three goals of the game
over the first 2:46 on their way to scoring the game's first eight
goals in a span of 14:23. Lamagdeleine struck twice and added one
of her assists in the opening run, while Weber, freshman attacker
Geena
Franciosi (South Easton, Mass.) and junior midfielder

assist each.
After SCSU got on the board with
junior midfielder Jessica Shaw's 18th goal of the season with 15:06
to play in the first half, Lamagdeleine responded with her 19th of
the campaign to kick-start a 4-0 burst for the Ravens over a span
of 5:55. Lamagdeleine bookended this spurt, as she capped Franklin
Pierce's first-half scoring with her fourth goal of the afternoon
to open the lead to 12-1 with 6:33 remaining before halftime.
Though the outcome of the game was
pretty much decided by that point, the Ravens left nothing to
chance and scored five of the first six goals in the second half to
push the lead as high as 17-3. Lamagdeleine added another goal and
an assist in the second stanza, while Franciosi scored twice more
and freshman attacker Megan Raposa

attacker Madeline
Shopshire (Hyannis, Mass.) added three points on two
goals and an assist. Stille and junior attacker Melissa Richtel

round out the Ravens' multiple-point scorers. Defensively, Weber
collected six ground balls, while senior defender Kristen Norton
(Sandown, N.H.) added six and freshman defender Chelsea Leach
(Hamden, Conn.) picked up five. Norton and junior
midfielder Lindsey Leach
(Hamden, Conn.) led the team with three caused turnovers
each.
For SCSU, senior attacker Elaina
Heiple (2-0-2) and freshman attacker Erica Sedler (1-1-2) were the
only multiple-point scorers on the afternoon. Junior goalkeeper
Lynette Martinez and Shaw each scooped up four ground balls for the
Owls, while Shaw nabbed six draw controls to lead all players.
Senior goalkeeper Jillian Bolduc
(Atkinson, N.H.) made six saves against eight shots on her
goal over the first 40 minutes to pick up the win (5-2) in net for
Franklin Pierce. Sophomore Jacqueline
Jolles (Hamden, Conn.) made three saves against six
shots on goal over the final 20 minutes.
Martinez turned aside 15 of the 32
shots on target at her end and suffered the loss (1-9) for Southern
Connecticut State.
Franklin Pierce held a 39-18
advantage in shot attempts and a 39-31 edge in ground balls in the
game, while Southern Connecticut State posted a 17-7 advantage in
draw controls. Franklin Pierce was successful on 22 of its 25 clear
