Talita Pereira fires off nine shots in the match
RINDGE, N.H. (October 26,
2011) – The Franklin Pierce University women's
soccer team played to a scoreless draw against Saint Anselm on
Wednesday afternoon at Sodexo Field in Rindge. The Ravens moved to
6-8-2 overall and 4-8-2 in the Northeast-10, while the Hawks moved
to 3-10-3 and 3-8-3 in league play.
The Ravens fired off 20 shots in
the match, including putting six on goal. Sophomore forward
Talita Pereira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) recorded a
match-high nine shots, while Eize Vieira (Sao Paulo,
Brazil), Tori Gikas (Sydney, Australia) and Aya
Noguchi (Tokyo, Japan) each had two shots.
Despite the offensive struggles,
Franklin Pierce turned in a strong defensive effort, limiting Saint
Anselm to just two shots in 110:00 of action. Senior goalkeeper
Jocelyn Leon (Lenox, Mass.) stopped one shot to
earn the shutout, while moving her record to 6-8-2 on the
season.
Franklin Pierce returns to action
Saturday when the Ravens play host to Adelphi at 1 p.m. in Sodexo
Field. The game will mark Senior Day as the class of Gikas, Leon,
Amanda Panaro (Rockland, Mass.) and Nikki
Chalifoux (Lebanon, Conn.) will be honored prior to the
match for their four years of commitment to the program.
