Ravens back in action Oct. 9
against Assumption
EASTON, Mass. (September
21, 2010) – The Franklin Pierce University men's
tennis team was defeated by Stonehill, 9-0, in Northeast-10
Conference play at Stonehill on Tuesday. With the loss, Franklin
Pierce falls to 0-2 (0-2 Northeast-10), while Stonehill improves to
2-0 (1-0 Northeast-10).
Senior Devon Holbrook
(Keene, N.Y.) made the most noise for the Ravens on the
evening, as he won seven games while falling, 6-3, 6-4, to
Stonehill freshman Taylor Whitcomb and sixth singles. Elsewhere for
the Ravens, junior Ben Brewer (Brattleboro, Vt.)
kept things close in the first set before falling, 6-3, 6-1, to
senior Tim Fayed at first singles.
Five different Stonehill players
won at both singles and doubles on Tuesday, led by freshman Conor
Fallon, who dropped only three games along the way. He picked up a
6-2, 6-0 win at fifth singles after teaming with junior Jonathan
Burke to post an 8-1 victory at third singles.
The Ravens return to action on
Saturday, Oct. 9, when they return home to host Assumption in a
Northeast-10 Conference match at 11 a.m. in Rindge.
