#9 Women's Soccer Suffers Tough 1-0 Loss at SNHU

Ravens suffer first loss of 2010 season

BOXSCORE

MANCHESTER, N.H. (September 18, 2010) -- The ninth-ranked Franklin Pierce University women's soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 decision to Southern New Hampshire on Saturday in Manchester. The Ravens dipped to 4-1-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the Northeast-10, while SNHU improved to 3-2 and 2-2 in league play.

Ashley Jaskula scored the game's lone goal for SNHU in the 21st minute as she converted on a strike from the far side of the box off a pass from Ariel Teixeira.

Southern New Hampshire goalkeeper Maggie Weldon made that goal stand up as she faced 20 shots, needing to make five saves to earn the shutout victory. Amanda Panaro (Rockland, Mass.) and Aya Noguchi (Tokyo, Japan) each registered two shots on goal for the Ravens, while Shona Franklin (Birmingham, England) totaled eight shots. The shutout ended Panaro's streak at five-consecutive games with a goal.

Franklin Pierce junior goalkeeper Jocelyn Leon (Lenox, Mass.) made two saves, but suffered the loss, which was her first of the season. SNHU recorded 14 shots, including three on goal, and had nine in the second 45 minutes alone.

Franklin Pierce returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Waltham, Mass. to face Bentley at 3:30 p.m.
