Ravens back in action at Adelphi
on Sept. 19
COLCHESTER, Vt. (September
11, 2010) – The Franklin Pierce University women's
tennis team was defeated by Saint Michael's, 9-0, in Northeast-10
Conference play at Saint Michael's on Saturday. With the loss,
Franklin Pierce opens the season at 0-1 (0-1 Northeast-10), while
Saint Michael's goes to 1-0 (1-0 Northeast-10) with the
victory.
Freshman Natasha McCarthy
(Rindge, N.H.) was among the strongest contributors on the
afternoon for the Ravens, as she teamed with junior Kaitlin Krolikowski (Massapequa, N.Y.) at first doubles. The duo
put up a fight before falling, 8-3, to Saint Michael's senior
Deahna Giguere and sophomore Emily Magee.
All six Saint Michael's players
were victorious in both singles and doubles on the afternoon. Magee
and fellow sophomore Jean-Marie McGrath swept to 6-0, 6-0 victories
at fourth and fifth singles, respectively.
The Ravens return to action on
Sunday, Sept. 19, when they travel to Adelphi for a Northeast-10
Conference contest at 1 p.m. in Garden City, N.Y.
