Mary Kate Stille scores three times for Franklin Pierce
BOXSCORE
MANCHESTER, N.H. (April 8, 2010) -- The Franklin Pierce
University women's lacrosse team dropped a 20-11 decision at
Southern New Hampshire on Thursday evening in Manchester, N.H. The
Ravens fell to 3-6 overall and 1-4 in the Northeast-10, while SNHU
improved to 4-4 and 3-1 in league play.
Mary Kate Stille (North
Quincy, Mass.) paced the Ravens' offensive attack with
three goals, while four other Ravens scored a pair of tallies each,
including Courtney Weber (Centerport, N.Y.), Jordan
Baillargeon (Westfield, Mass.), Brianna Nash (Oceanside,
N.Y.) and Lauren Stille (North Quincy,
Mass.).
Sophomore goalkeeper
Jillian Bolduc (Atkinson, N.H.) started in goal
for the Ravens and suffered the loss after making 14 saves and
allowing 20 goals.
Sherry Darrell led all scorers as
she had six goals for Southern New Hampshire. Maura Murphy and
Emily Mongeau each added a trio of goals for the Penmen.
Darrell scored SNHU's first two
goals of the game as the Penmen outscored the Ravens, 10-6, in the
opening half. Lauren Stille had her two goals in the first half and
Baillargeon's tally at the 5:54 mark of the stanza brought the
Ravens to within two goals at 8-6. However, SNHU scored two tallies
in the final 3:33 of the half to take the four-goal advantage into
halftime.
The Ravens fought back in the
opening minutes of the second half and scored four of the period's
first five goals to get within 11-10. Baillargeon and Nash each
scored during the surge, while Mary Kate Stille tossed in a pair of
markers.
That was as close as Franklin
Pierce would come as SNHU responded by scoring nine of the game's
final 10 goals to pull away for the win.
Franklin Pierce returns to action
this Saturday when the Ravens play host to Stonehill at 1 p.m. in
Sodexo Field on the Rindge campus.
