Gilhuly picks up win at second
singles
Gilhuly posted a 6-4, 6-2 win at second singles against Le Moyne on
Sunday afternoon.

RINDGE, N.H. (October 10,
2010) – Freshman Pat Gilhuly (Killingworth,
Conn.) won his match at second singles on Sunday
afternoon, but the Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team was
defeated, 8-1, at home by Le Moyne in Northeast-10 Conference
play.
With the loss, Franklin Pierce
falls to 0-4 (0-4 Northeast-10), while Le Moyne improves to 4-3
(4-2 Northeast-10) with the victory.
Gilhuly picked up the lone point of
the day for Franklin Pierce at second singles, as he squeaked out a
6-4 win in the first set, before taking the second decisively, 6-2,
over Le Moyne senior Ken Scheiffer. Junior Ben Brewer
(Brattleboro, Vt.) put up a fight for the Ravens at first
singles, as he took the first set from junior Dan Sullivan, 6-3.
However, Sullivan answered with 6-4 and 6-1 victories to take the
match.
Earlier in the day, Franklin Pierce
fell in all three doubles matches, though Gilhuly and senior
Dan McDonough (Manchester, N.H.) stuck with Le
Moyne juniors Jim Shelp and Andy Gleason before falling, 8-6.
Four Le Moyne players picked up
wins in both doubles and singles play on the afternoon. The
Dolphins were led by junior Joe Persia, who swept though fourth
singles, 6-0, 6-0, after teaming with freshman Daryl Johnson to
pick up an 8-0 win at third doubles earlier in the day.
The Ravens return to action on
Monday, Oct. 11, when they remain home to host Southern New
Hampshire in a Northeast-10 Conference match at 11 a.m.
