MANCHESTER, N.H. (September
16, 2009) – Sophomore forward Tia Levins
(Manchester, Maine) scored the first two goals of her
career, including the game-winning goal, on Wednesday afternoon to
lead the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team to a 3-1 road
victory over Saint Anselm in non-conference play at South Athletic
Field.
With the win, Franklin Pierce
improves to 2-5 (0-1 Northeast-10), while Saint Anselm falls to 0-6
(0-1 Northeast-10) with the loss.
Franklin Pierce opened the scoring with the only goal of the first
half a shade over 19 minutes into the contest. Levins scored the
first goal of her career in her first collegiate start off a feed
from junior midfielder Jordan Baillargeon (Westfield,
Mass.).
Franklin Pierce dominated the opening half and held Saint Anselm
without a shot attempt and allowed just one penalty corner over the
opening 35 minutes. As for the Ravens, they were awarded 10 penalty
corners in the first half and attempted 10 shots, including six on

The goals came fast and furious after the 10-minute mark of the
second half. First, Levins got her second goal of the game 13:07
into the frame off a feed from senior forward Ashley
Abernethy (Bellingham, Mass.). Only 29 seconds later,
Saint Anselm would pick up its only goal of the game to close the
gap to 2-1. Sophomore forward Stephanie Chaisson scored her first
goal of the season for the Hawks, while senior forward Karrie Muma
picked up the assist.
The Ravens would regain a two-goal lead and create the 3-1 final
just 1:12 after Chaisson's goal when sophomore forward
Danielle Dolan (West Brookfield, Mass.) scored her
second goal of the season. The goal gave Dolan five points (two
goals, one assist) over the campaign's first seven games to
tie her for the team scoring lead.
Franklin Pierce again held the upper hand offensively in the
second half, as they posted a 9-3 shots advantage to enjoy a 19-3
edge over the course of the game. The Ravens were awarded five

stopped eight of 11 shots on her cage, but took the loss (0-6)
between the pipes for Saint Anselm.

return home to host American International in a Northeast-10
Conference contest. Game time is set for 1 p.m. at Sodexo Field in
