WORCESTER, Mass. (April 13, 2009) - Assumption College picked up a 6-3 decision over Franklin Pierce University in Northeast-10 Conference men's tennis action this afternoon.

Sophomore Jimmy Mongello (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North) led Assumption to victory as its top double-winner on the afternoon. He posted a 6-1, 6-3 victory at 2^nd-singles after combining with senior Steve Tlumacki (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) for an 8-5 triumph at first doubles. Sophomore Bobby Hurley (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield) was also a double-winner for the Greyhounds, picking up a 6-0, 6-1 victory at third singles after teaming up with freshman Andrew Smith (North Grafton, Mass./St. John's) for a narrow 8-6 decision at No. 2 doubles.

All three doubles matches were close as the Tlumacki/Mongello victory was the largest margin of victory.

Senior Helder Noguiera (Dourados, Brazil/Lowell (Mass.)) and freshman Ryo Myazaki (Tokyo, Japan/Hoosac School) each picked up singles victories for Franklin Pierce. Noguiera posted a 6-4, 6-3 win at first singles, while Myazaki was victorious at fifth singles with a 6-1, 6-2 decision.

Franklin Pierce (1-9, 1-8 NE-10) closes out its 2008-2009 season on Wednesday when it visits Saint Anselm College at 3 p.m. Assumption (3-5, 3-5 NE-10) visits Merrimack College tomorrow at 3:30 p.m.
