Box Score

RINDGE, N.H. (October 7, 2009) – The Franklin Pierce University field hockey team pulled off one of the biggest wins in program history Wednesday night as the Ravens downed fourth-ranked Stonehill, 3-1, at Sodexo Field in Rindge, N.H. The Ravens ran their record to 7-6 overall and 3-2 in the Northeast-10. Stonehill dipped to 10-3 and 4-1 in the league.

Senior forward Katie Debler (Walpole, Mass.) had a goal and assisted on another for Franklin Pierce, as the team won its third-straight game overall. Sophomore goalkeeper Brittany Nyzio (Attleboro, Mass.) made five saves in the contest to help preserve the Ravens lead and earn the win in net. She ran her record to 6-5 on the season.

Freshman Alyssa Juszczyk (Warren, Mass.) got the scoring started in the contest as she put the Ravens on top, 1-0, with a goal off a scramble in front of the net. She was able to collect the ball in between several defenders and fire off a shot that found the back of the goal at 32:02 into the first half. It was the first goal of Juszczyk's collegiate career and it couldn't have come at a better time to spark the Ravens.

Less than two minutes later Franklin Pierce went up, 2-0, when Debler scored off a rebound in front of the Skyhawks goal. It marked her second tally of the season and came at the 33:56 mark. Junior midfielder Jordan Baillargeon (Westfield, Mass.) assisted on the score.

Stonehill came out aggressive in the second half and pulled to within 2-1 at the 50:55 mark when Claire Hourihan scored an unassisted goal off a rebound.

Franklin Pierce, though, had an answer for Stonehill's goal. The Ravens went back on top by two scores when sophomore Danielle Dolan (West Brookfield, Mass.) took a pass in front of the net from Debler and slipped it past the Skyhawk goalkeeper for a 3-1 Franklin Pierce advantage at the 56:28 mark.

Nyzio made several saves late to hold up the lead and earn the win.

Franklin Pierce returns to action Saturday when it travels to face Adelphi at 12 p.m. For more information on Franklin Pierce field hockey, please visit the team's page at athletics.franklinpierce.edu(.)
