Boxscore
RINDGE, N.H. (September 2,
2008) - American International College scored two goals in
the span of 2:42 in the final ten minutes of regulation to force a
2-2 double-overtime draw at Franklin Pierce University, ranked No.
2 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America
(NSCAA)/adidas Division II poll, in Northeast-10 Conference women's
soccer action at Sodexo Field tonight.
Sophomore Sarah Boornazian
(Farmington, Conn./Farmington) scored two goals in the
span of 2:24 in the final ten minutes of regulation to lead
American International from a two-goal deficit and force overtime.
The Yellow Jackets held on over the final 20-minutes of overtime to
come away with the draw, despite being out-shot 7-0 over the final
23 minutes of play. Senior goalkeeper Danielle Hodecker
(West Springfield, Mass./West Springfield) made ten saves
to preserve the tie for the Yellow Jackets.
Junior All-American Gabriela
Demoner (Curitiba, Brazil) played a role in both Franklin
Pierce goals off the bench. Senior Kelly Sisco
(Hubbardston, Mass./Quabbin Regional) added a goal, while
sophomore All-American Angelika Johansson (Falkenberg,
Sweden) collected an assist. Senior goalkeeper
Brittany Ester (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East)
made one save in goal for the Ravens.
Franklin Pierce dominated possession
and play in the first half, but came away empty despite a 7-0
advantage in shots. American International took the early momentum
of the second half, notching four shots in the opening seven
minutes of the stanza. However, Franklin Pierce struck first as
Demoner took a pass from Johansson, turned and fired a rocket from
27-yards that beat Hodecker to her right for the opening goal at
58:49. Franklin Pierce appeared to seal victory in the
81st minute, when Sisco took a pass from Demoner and
sent a low shot from the left side that caught Hodecker off balance
and found the right side of the net.
Senior Kelly Sisco netted a goal for the second-straight
match.

AIC got back within a goal when
Boornazian knocked in a cross from the right side by junior
Morgan Mastronardi (Carunna, Ontario/Sarnia Collegiate
Institute) with her chest inside the six at the
84:16-mark. The Yellow Jackets equalized at 86:58, when Boornazian
took a pass from sophomore Cassie Ashwell (Agawam,
Mass./Agawam) and fired a low shot into the lower left
corner from just inside the 18 on the right side.
Franklin Pierce had two great
chances to pull out the win in the second overtime period. Junior
Shannon Mulvey (Worcester, Mass./Burncoat) had a
shot from point blank range on the left side stopped by Hodecker,
with the rebound falling to Johansson, who pushed her attempt just
wide of the right post in the 104th minute. Senior back
Melissa Hagmire (Livonia,
N.Y./Livonia) teed up loose ball inside the 18 on the left
side, but her drive hit off the side netting in the
107th minute.
