Katie Ristow provides double-double for Ravens

Katie Ristow put together a double-double with 14 kills and 13 digs
on Saturday afternoon at Saint Rose.

ALBANY, N.Y. (October 18, 2008) –
Junior Katie Ristow (Miami,
Fla./Miami Killian) tied for the match lead with 14 kills
and added 13 digs on Saturday afternoon to post a double-double and
lead the Franklin Pierce University volleyball team to a 3-2
victory over Saint Rose in Northeast-10 Conference play at Nolan
Gymnasium. Sophomore Rachel Baxter (Stratford, Conn./Bunnell) led
the way for Saint Rose with 14 kills of her own.
Franklin Pierce took the first two sets, 25-16 and 26-24,
respectively, before Saint Rose won the third set, 25-15, and the
fourth set, 27-25, to even things up. The Ravens prevailed, 15-12,
in a tight fifth set to win the match.
Ristow led the way for Franklin Pierce on the afternoon with her
14-kill, 13-dig double-double. She was the only Raven in double
figures offensively, but among six Ravens to record double-digit
digs, led by sophomore Chelsie
Kohout (Harrison Township, Mich./L'Anse Creuse).
Senior Karissa Hookstadt
(Camarillo, Calif./Adolfo Camarillo) provided a
double-double for Franklin Pierce as well, with a match-best 37
assists to go with 10 digs. Senior Emily Schultz (Salem, Wis./Westosha
Central) narrowly missed a double-double of her own with 13
digs and nine kills.
For Saint Rose, Baxter was one of three Golden Knights in double
digits with 14 kills, while freshman Marilyn Glamack (Victor,
N.Y./Victor) and junior Jaclyn Griffin (Glen Mills, Pa./Penncrest)
each recorded 11 kills. Junior Mary German (Canandaigua,
N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) led the defense with a match-high 22 digs
while freshman Chelsea Tyler (Bernardston, Mass./Pioneer Valley
regional) notched a match-best six blocks (one solo). Freshman
Theresa Staulo (Newton, Mass./Newton North) dished out 36 assists
for Saint Rose.
The Ravens (12-14, 5-4 NE-10) return to the court on Sunday, Oct.
19, when they travel to face Le Moyne in a Northeast-10 Conference
contest. Match time is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Ted Grant Court in
Syracuse, N.Y. Franklin Pierce returns home on Tuesday, Oct. 21
against Saint Michael's at 7 p.m. Saint Rose (11-7, 5-4
NE-10) returns to action on Oct. 23 at Concordia.
