Minott earns singles and doubles victories for the
Ravens in the 2007 season-opener

MANCHESTER, N.H. (September
23, 2007) – The Franklin Pierce University
women's tennis team dropped its 2007 season-opener to
Southern New Hampshire by a score of 7-2 on Sunday afternoon at the
SNHU Courts.
Senior CoCo Minott (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper
Perkiomen) earned victories in both her matches for the
Ravens on Sunday to earn the team two points. In first singles
play, Minott took out Lauren Nigrelli (Westerly, RI/Prout School),
7-5, 6-4, and she also teamed up with freshman Lauren
Smilovich (Meriden, Conn./Sacred Heart Academy) to defeat
Nigrelli and Kristen Franco (Bedford, N.H./West) in first doubles
action by a score of 8-5.
Smilovich also put up a fight her third singles match against
Juliet Verhofstad (Plymouth, NH/Plymouth Regional), falling 6-4,
6-1.
Franklin Pierce (0-1, 0-1 NE-10) will try to host its 2007 home
opener for the second time this season on Oct. 5, as the Ravens
welcome Le Moyne College to the Franklin Pierce tennis courts for a
match beginning at 11 a.m. Southern New Hampshire (1-1, 1-1 NE-10)
will take on Merrimack Sunday at noon.
