Southbridge, Mass., native honored for third time this
season
RINDGE, N.H. (April 23,
2007) - Franklin Pierce junior pitcher/designated hitter
Keith Renaud (Southbridge, Mass./Southbridge) was
named Player of the Week by the Northeast-10 Conference on Monday.
Renaud, who earns Player of the
Week honors from the NE-10 for the third time (to go with one
Pitcher of the Week selection), led Franklin Pierce to a 6-1 week
as he hit .464 (13-for-28) with five runs scored, three doubles, a
home run, two stolen bases and three RBI. He also slugged .679 and
posted a .448 on-base percentage, while collecting four multi-hit
games (including three three hit outings). Renaud also picked up a
win on the mound with 7.2 scoreless innings against Pace
University, scattering three hits and two walks while striking out
a season-high matching 12 batters in the win. He also hit 3-for-4
with a double, stolen base and three runs scored in that outing,
before going 3-for-4 in the
nightcap.
Renaud smacked a leadoff home run
in the seventh inning of Franklin Pierce's 1-0 win at American
International College on Wednesday. He was 2-4 with a stolen base
and run scored in Friday's 3-2 win over Southern New Hampshire
University and finished 3-4 with a pair of doubles in game two of
Saturday's doubleheader sweep of Bryant University.
Renaud has made a big impact for
Franklin Pierce in his first season since transferring from Becker
College. He leads the Northeast-10 Conference in batting (.420),
runs scored (47) and hits (65) on the offensive side, while leading
the Conference in opposing batting average (.145) and strikeouts
(61) on the mound. Renaud also ranks among NE-10 leaders with a
.608 slugging percentage (3rd), .477 on-base percentage
(3rd), 33 RBI (7th), six home runs
(3rd), 17 steals (4th), a 2.09 ERA
(7th) and five wins (2nd).
Renaud posted a 20-game hitting
streak at one point this season, setting a new single-season record
in the process, and hit safely in 25 of the Ravens first 26 games
of the season. In fact, he has failed to collect a hit in just four
games so far this spring.
Franklin Pierce (34-6, 19-2 NE-10),
ranked 15th in this week's Collegiate Baseball
magazine poll and first in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers
Association (NCBWA) Northeast Regional poll, is back in action on
Tuesday when it hosts Stonehill College at 3:30 p.m.
