Minott improves to 3-0 in singles play with a straight-set,
first singles victory

WALTHAM, Mass. (October 9,
2007) - The Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team
fell to Bentley College by a score of 8-1 in a Northeast-10
Conference women's tennis match at the Bentley Tennis Courts on
Tuesday afternoon.
Senior CoCo Minott
(Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) earned the only point of
the afternoon for the visiting Ravens, as she defeated Bentley's
Heather Haggerty (Hanover, Mass./Hanover) in straight sets, 6-4,
6-4, in first singles action. Minott also teamed with freshman
Lauren Smilovich (Meriden, Conn./Sacred Heart
Academy) in first doubles play and the duo fought hard
against Bentley's Kelly Fleszar (Larchmont, N.Y./Ursuline School)
and Kelly Nugent (Lynnfield, Mass./Lynnfield) before falling, 8-4.
Fleszar and Nugent were two of the
Falcons' dual winners on the afternoon, as Fleszar defeated
sophomore Mariana Zahora (New Ringgold, Pa./Damaqua) at second
singles, 6-1, 6-0, while Nugent blanked Smilovich, 6-0, 6-0, at
third singles.
Franklin Pierce (0-3, 0-3 NE-10)
will search for its first win of the fall season on Oct. 14, when
the Ravens welcome Bryant University to the Franklin Pierce tennis
courts for a Northeast-10 match beginning at 11 a.m. Bentley (4-1,
4-0 NE-10) will take on American International on Saturday at 1
p.m.
