Blanchard moves up to third on the all time goals list

– Franklin Pierce scored two first half goals to notch its
second victory of the season, a 3-1 win against American
International College at Sodexho Field this evening.

Blanchard (Rockport, Mass./Rockport) started the scoring for
the Ravens when she notched her second goal of the season with
29:20 remaining in the first half. With this goal, Blanchard moved
up to third on the all time goals list with 12 for her career.
Just under five minutes later, junior Angela Barone (Norwood, Pa./Interboro)
scored the Ravens' second goal as she fired a shot past
American International goalkeeper Casey Armand (Danvers,
Mass./Danvers). Barone would later add an assist, when junior Mary Beth Huszar (Greenville,
N.H./Greenville) scored her team-leading third goal of the
season with 13:36 remaining in the match.
American International answered back in the first half as
sophomore Nicole Phelps (Nassau, N.Y./Columbia) scored a goal with
6:40 remaining. However, Franklin Pierce goalkeeper Amanda Pietraszuk (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan
School) and the Ravens defense would shutout American
International for the remainder of the match. Pietraszuk stopped
two shots for the Ravens while Armand made five saves for the
Yellow Jackets.
Franklin Pierce (2-6, 2-6 NE-10) will be in action on Saturday,
when it hosts LIU-C.W. Post at noon. American International (0-6,
0-6 NE-10) will play Saturday when it travels to No. 7 Stonehill
College for a match at 10:30 a.m.
