Powell notches a season-high 17
points in Ravens loss
RINDGE, N.H. (November 30,
2005) - Franklin Pierce suffered a tough loss to Southern
New Hampshire University, 78-68, in Northeast-10 Conference action
tonight at the Franklin Pierce Field house.
Southern New Hampshire senior
captain P.J. Young (Boston, Mass./Manchester
Central) led all scorers with a game-high 20 points
and six rebounds. He hit 5-of-8 shots from the field and converted
10-of-13 free throw attempts, including 4-of-6 free throws in the
final two minutes of the match. Senior Miguel
Gonzalez (Jamaica, N.Y./Holy Cross) finished with 15
points and five steals for the Penmen.
Franklin Pierce senior
Justin Powell (Brookline,
Mass./Brookline) notched a season-high 17 points on
5-of-10 shooting from the floor, while netting 7-of-10 free throw
attempts. Classmate Pierre Sully (Jamaica Plain,
Mass./North Cambridge) finished with 13 points and
four rebounds in the Ravens loss.
Freshmen Timothy Munch
(Iauvelt, N.Y./Storm King Prep) and sophomore
Joseph Chapman (Boston, Mass./UMass
Lowell) were also solid for the Ravens. Munch
contributed ten points and four rebounds on the night while Chapman
totaled nine points on 2-of-5 shooting from the field and 5-of-7
shooting from the free throw line.
Franklin Pierce (3-1, 1-1) will
travel to UMass Lowell on Saturday for a match starting at 5:30
p.m. Southern New Hampshire University (4-1, 2-1 NE-10) returns to
action on Saturday, as it hosts New York Institute of Technology at
2 p.m.
