Deluz tallies a goal and an assist in River Hawks win

Franklin Pierce suffered a tough 3-1 loss in a non-conference
match-up to UMass Lowell, ranked No. 5 in this week's
STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II
Poll, at Sodexho Field this evening.

Langevin (Bellingham, Mass./Bellingham) opened the scoring
for Franklin Pierce, as she took her own rebound and deposited it
into the back of the net with 10:15 remaining in the first
half.
UMass Lowell answered just three minutes later when senior Joanna
Deluz (Harwich, Mass./Univ. of Albany) fired a shot past Franklin
Pierce goalkeeper Amanda
Pietraszuk (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan School).
In the second half, UMass Lowell scored two unanswered goals to
secure the match. Senior Courtney Hill (Newburyport,
Mass./Northeastern) registered a goal with 27:32 remaining in the
game off a feed from Deluz. Freshman Missy Seely (E. Hampstead,
N.H./Pinkerton Academy) added another insurance goal for the River
Hawks with 22:45 remaining in the match.
UMass Lowell junior goalkeeper Nicole Staiti (Barre, Mass./Quabbin
Regional) stopped two shots for the River Hawks, while Pietraszuk
stopped eight shots for the Ravens.
Franklin Pierce (4-9, 2-8 NE-10) will be in action on Saturday,
when it travels to Saint Anselm College for a match starting at 10
a.m. UMass Lowell (11-2, 9-1 NE-10) will host Bryant University on
Saturday at 1 p.m.
