RINDGE, N.H. (October 22, 2005) –
The Franklin Pierce field hockey team suffered a tough loss in its
last match of the season, 1-0 to Southern Connecticut State
University in Northeast-10 conference action this afternoon at
Sodexho Field.
Southern Connecticut scored the only goal of the match as senior
captain Cathy Cardini (Willington, Conn./E.O. Smith) notched her
team leading eighth goal of the season. The goal came with 14:05
remaining in the match.
Franklin Pierce junior goalkeeper Amanda Pietraszuk (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan
School) stopped 12 shots in the Ravens loss, while Southern
Connecticut goalkeeper Casey Sanford (North Haven, Conn./North
Haven) stopped three shots to record her sixth shutout of the
season. Southern Connecticut registered 13 shots on goal while
Franklin Pierce had three.
Franklin Pierce ended its 2005 season with an overall record of
7-12, 5-11 in the Northeast-10. Southern Connecticut State
University finished the regular season with an overall record of
12-7, 11-5 in the Northeast-10.
