RINDGE, N.H. (September 21, 2004) - The Franklin Pierce field hockey team knocked off No. 9 nationally ranked Saint Michael's College, 1-0 today in Northeast-10 Conference action. Junior forward Laura Blanchard (Rockport, Mass./Rockport) tallied the lone goal of the game, while classmate Brandi Guertin (Bellingham, Mass./Bellingham) posted her first shutout of the season.

Just 1:57 into the match, Blanchard took a feed from senior co-captain April Demers (Gorham, N.H./Gorham) and scored her first goal of the season. The Ravens notched the victory despite being outshot nine to three. Guertin saved all nine shots en route to earning her third victory of the season and sixth career shutout. Saint Michael's goalkeeper Jess Anderson (Springfield, Vt./Springfield) drops to 1-3 on the season with the loss.
