RINDGE, N.H. (Sept. 17, 2002) - The
Franklin Pierce University volleyball team posted its first
Conference win, defeating intra-state rivals, Saint Anselm College,
3-1, in Northeast-10 Conference volleyball action at the FP
Fieldhouse this evening.
Senior Catrina Cuevas (Aurora,
Colo./J.I. O'Neill (N.Y.)) led the Ravens with 17 kills, 14
assists and 16 digs, while classmate Heidi Jensen (South Glens Falls, N.Y./South
Glens Falls) recorded a season-high 19 digs in the win.
Junior setter Bethany Findley
(Clinton, Conn./Morgan School) dished a season best 29
assists and senior Mandy Johnson
(Orange, Mass./Maher Regional) totaled 16 kills and 15
digs.
Newcomer Tara Vece (Clinton,
Conn./Morgan School) tallied a season-high 17 digs, while
Briana Bates (Belmont,
N.H./Endicott College) posted a season-high 13 kills.
Junior
Melinda Caron was the top performer for Saint Anselm, recording a
match-high 22 kills and seven service aces. Setter Robin Hinchey
dished 40 assists for the Hawks.
Franklin Pierce (4-3, 1-1 NE-10) returns to action on Thursday,
when it travels to American International College for a
Northeast-10 Conference matchup at 7 p.m. Saint Anselm College
(2-8, 0-2 NE-10) next hosts Assumption College on Tuesday, Sept.
24, in a League matchup at 7:30 p.m.
