PLYMOUTH, N.H. (September 10, 2002) -
The Franklin Pierce University field hockey team was shutout by
Plymouth State, 3-0, in non-conference action at Arold Field this
evening.
The teams were scoreless heading into the second half, but
Plymouth's Amanda Gutowski netted two markers and tallied one
assist to lead the Panthers to the shutout win. Gutowski opened up
the scoring with 22:53 left in the second half, assisted on the
Panther's second goal just two minutes later, and finished off the
Ravens with an unassisted tally with 17:05 left.
Senior goalkeeper, Kasey
McClements (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) made 14 saves in 60
minutes of work, while newcomer Brandi Guertin (Bellingham,
Mass./Bellingham) played the final ten minutes of relief.
Plymouth's Ellen Ward made eight stops for her first shutout win of
the year.
The Ravens, who have been struggling offensively this season, being
outscored 11-2 in their last three contests, now drop to 0-3
overall.
Franklin Pierce (0-3, 0-1 NE-10) returns to action on Saturday,
when it hosts Bryant College in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup
at Owl Stadium in Keene, N.H. at 4 p.m. Plymouth State (1-0) will
next travel to Saint Anselm College on Saturday for a
non-conference contest at 3 p.m.
