Kasey McClements makes seven saves for a record breaking third
shutout this fall
RINDGE, N.H. (October 22, 2002) -
Senior goalkeeper, Kasey
McClements (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) made seven saves for a
record-breaking third shutout of the season to lead the Ravens to a
2-0 victory over Southern Connecticut State University in
Northeast-10 Conference field hockey action at the Franklin Pierce
Field Hockey/Lacrosse Field this afternoon.
McClements shutout surpasses her previous record of two shutouts in
a season last fall. McClements also holds the record for career
shutouts with seven.
The Ravens opened up the scoring early in the first half, as Debbie Jones (Escondido,
Calif./Bishops) converted a feed from teammate Kelly Henry (Wyoming, R.I./Chariho
Regional) just four minutes into the match. Henry now
becomes the all-time assist leader, surpassing Kristen Clarke with
11 career helpers.
The Ravens continued to press Southern Connecticut State in the
final three minutes of the first half, but the Owls defense stifled
three quality-scoring chances to keep the score 1-0.
The Owls held off the Ravens for most of the second half until
senior Stephanie Bradley
(Warrington, Pa./Miller Place (N.Y.)) one-timed a pass from
junior Chrystean Page (Turner,
Maine/Leavitt) with 2:19 left in regulation to seal the 2-0
win.
Senior goalkeeper, Sarah Dube, made six saves for the Owls despite
the loss.
