Ravens Four Straight Goals Sends Red Hawks to Second Straight

UPPER MONTCLAIR, N.J. (September 10,
2000) - Sophomore midfielder Chrystean Page (Turner, Maine) had a
pair of goals as Franklin Pierce scored four consecutive times en
route to a 4-2 victory over Montclair State at Sprague Field this
afternoon.
Freshman forward Debbie Jones
(Escondido, Calif.) had a goal and an assist for the Ravens
(1-1) who bounced back from a 4-1 defeat at the hands of C.W. Post
on Saturday. The loss was the second straight for MSU (4-2)
following a 4-0 start.
Montclair's Jamie Donato (Pompton Plains, N.J.) gave the Red Hawks
a 1-0 lead three minutes into the game as she scored off an assist
from Melissa Herbert (Somerville, N.J.). Page knotted the game with
30:37 left in the opening half as she scored the first of two goals
on a penalty stroke. Senior forward Heidi Nichols (Fremont, N.J.) gave the
Ravens the lead for good with 24:15 remaining in the game as she
took a pass from Jones and beat MSU goalkeeper Trisha Winkle
(Forked River, N.J.).
Page extended the lead to 3-1 with 18:42 to go as she scored on
another penalty stroke, one that she beat Winkle high to the right
side. Jones then capped the FP scoring at 9:44 with her first goal.
MSU would cut the lead to 4-2 with 1:36 to play as Alison Bonavita
(Brick, N.J.) scored her fourth goal of the season.
Irene Smith (Olivebridge,
N.Y.) made nine saves for the Ravens as did Winkle for MSU.
FP outshot MSU, 13-11.
