AIC Forces Nationally Ranked Franklin Pierce To Settle For 2-2 Tie

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.(October 7, 2000) - Senior defender Nicole Sullivan (Sharon, Mass.) and junior forward Kristen Patterson (Agawam, Mass.) led AIC to a tie against defending Division II National Chamption Franklin Pierce this afternoon at AIc park. This marks the first time in history that Franklin Pierce has been tied in a confernce match.

Sullivan's goal tied the game at 1-1 26:46 into the first half. Late in the second half she would assist Patterson, who scored on a header to tie the game for good at 2-2. AIC senior goalkeeper Cindy Mateus (Ludlow, Mass.) played a solid game in goal, recording 12 saves.

Franklin Pierce got on the board first with a goal by senior forward Minna Mustonen (Helsinki, Finland). Mustonen had a hand in the ravens' next goal when she assisted Andrea Caesar (Visby, Sweden) to take a 2-1 lead.
