Vinny Pennell wrapped up his secondseason as an assistant coach with the Franklin Pierce Universitybaseball team in 2010.

Pennell transitioned to the dugout in 2009 after four years on thefield with the Ravens and a two-year stint in professionalbaseball.

In his first year as an assistantcoach, the Ravens captured their third consecutive Northeast-10Conference Championship, as well as their fourth in five years, andhosted an NCAA Championship Regional for the fifth consecutiveseason.

As a player at Franklin Pierce, Pennell captured regional titlesin both his junior and senior seasons. In a standout senior seasonin 2007, he hit .342 (19-for-231), drove in 40 runs, slugged .472and stole 27 bases. Over his four-year career in Rindge, Pennellamassed a .322 batting average (250-for-776), drove in 114 runs andscored 158 while playing in 215 games.

After finishing his career in 2007, Pennell signed a minor leaguefree-agent contract with the Kansas City Royals and played most ofthe 2007 season with the Royals' rookie-league affiliate in theArizona League. Over 47 games, he posted a .279 batting average(46-for-165) with six doubles, three triples, 20 runs batted in, 33runs scored and 14 stolen bases. Pennell also collected two hits in13 at-bats over five games with the Burlington Bees of the single-AMidwest League in 2007.

Pennell played the 2008 season with the Nashua Pride of the Can-AmLeague, where he hit .259 (86-for-332) with 11 doubles, twotriples, one home run, 25 runs batted in, 48 runs scored and 14stolen bases over 85 games.
