Doug DeBiase

Doug DeBiase enters his fifth yearin the Franklin Pierce University Department of Athletics in2013-14, and the first as the Assistant Athletic Director forCommunications & Marketing, a position he was promoted to inSeptember 2013. He was hired as the Director of AthleticCommunications for Franklin Pierce in September 2009, and has11 years of full-time communications experience in collegiateathletics.

DeBiase oversees all aspects of thecommunications and marketing department, including the officialathletic website, athletics.franklinpierce.edu(,) the online teamstore, the Pierce Pride Game Enviornment program, communityoutreach initiatives, promotions, social media initiatives, mascotappearances, slogan and logo rights, internet video, and radiobroadcasting opportunities. He is also the primary media contactfor the sprint football, men's soccer, women's soccer, crosscountry, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's lacrosse,softball, golf, and rowing programs. His department is alsoresponsible for producing all of the audio/visual content for thedepartment's annual Hall of Fame and Year-End AwardsBanquet. 

In his first four years in Rindge,DeBiase and his staff have heavily promoted the efforts of allprograms, and have been able to place various teams in respectedmedia outlets such as Sports Illustrated, USA Today,ESPN.com, USAToday.com, NCAA.org, NCAA on Campus, ESPNU, CBSCollege Sports, NESN, NESN.com, Baseball America, Boston Globe,Boston Herald, Athletic Business, Athletic Administration, theNew York Times Wire Service and the New EnglandHockey Journal.

The official site of FranklinPierce Athletics (athletics.franklinpierce.edu) has receivedseveral upgrades in DeBiase's first three years in Rindge,including his office doing a complete redesign in March 2011. Theofficial website is not the only facet of the internet the athleticcommunications office has taken on over the past four years, butalso a successful creation of pages on social media sites includingYouTube, Facebook and Twitter. With interviews, game highlights andbehind-the-scenes footage, Franklin Pierce's official YouTubechannel (www.youtube.com/FranklinPierceSports) has seenits uploads reach close to 200,000 views. The department's Twitter(www.twitter.com/FPUathletics) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/FranklinPierceRavens) accounts havealso seen a surge in followers since their creation. 

With the tremendous success ofseveral Ravens teams, DeBiase has had the opportunity to serve as amedia relations coordinator for 15 NCAA and Northeast-10 Conferencechampionship events, including the 2010 NCAA Division II Women'sBasketball East Regional and 2012 NCAA Division II Men's BasketballEast Regional.

In just four years at FranklinPierce, DeBiase has worked directly with 13 teams who have advancedto the NCAA Division II Tournament, including the No. 1-nationallyranked 2009-10 women's basketball team, which won the NCAA EastRegional and advanced all the way to the Final Four. He also workedwith the 2011 men's soccer squad which captured a regionalchampionship to reach the Division II Final Four. His departmenthas promoted the accomplishments of several student-athletes,including 17 who have won some form of conference, regional ornational player/rookie-of-the-year recognition. DeBiase publicizedthe efforts of standout women's basketball player Johannah Leedham,who won the 2010 Division II National Player-of-the-Year award fromthree different organizations, including the WBCA.

DeBiase came to Franklin Pierceafter spending the previous four years at the University of Maineas the Associate Manager of Athletic Media Relations. At Maine,DeBiase worked with six programs, including football andwomen’s basketball. DeBiase’s efforts to promote theprograms produced stories in national media outlets such as ESPNRadio’s Mike & Mike in the Morning, ESPN.com, SportsIllustrated on Campus, NCAA.org, and NCAA on Campus. 

A 2002 graduate of Penn State, DeBiase spent two years working inthe athletic department’s communications office as a studentassistant. Following graduation, he spent time working in mediarelations offices at the University of Florida, United States NavalAcademy, and on game days for the Baltimore Ravens during the 2004season. A native of Hollidaysburg, Pa., DeBiase resides in Swanzay,N.H., and is currently pursuing his master's degree in sportsadministration from Liberty University.
