Alex Eckhardt wrapped up her thirdseason, and second as Head Coach, with the Franklin PierceUniversity men's and women's tennis programs in 2011-12. She alsoserves as Assistant Coach with the school's women's soccerprogram.
Since arriving in Rindge for thefall of 2008, Eckhardt has assisted Head Coach Jeff Bailey as thewomen’s soccer program continued its long line of success,including competing in the Northeast-10 Tournament Championshipgame and advancing to the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back years.She handled several responsibilities with the program, includingworking with the goalkeepers.
Eckhardt also volunteered as anassistant coach for both the men’s and women’s tennisprograms when she first came to Franklin Pierce and later served asinterim head coach of both teams during the conclusion of the 2009spring season, prior to her full-time appointment at the head ofboth programs.
She holds an NSCAA GoalkeepingDiploma, Level 1 coaching license and is an ACSM certified personaltrainer. Eckhardt also has worked as an instructor at varioussoccer camps and clinics around New England.
Eckhardt played soccer at StonehillCollege from 2004-08 and was a two-time captain as the goalkeeper,earning All-Conference and All-Academic accolades from the NE-10.Prior to that, she was a five-year letterwinner in tennis atMarshfield (Mass.) High School, where she returned as an assistantcoach from 2004-06. Eckhardt has continued to play soccer whileemployed at FPU, taking the pitch for the Classic Crush of theEastern Massachusetts Women’s Soccer League (EMWSL).
Eckhardt earned herbachelor’s degree in communications from Stonehill with aminor in environmental studies. She earned her master’sdegree in sports facilities management from Franklin Pierce in May2010.
