NEW HAVEN, Conn. (9/18/26) - The Franklin Pierce University men's soccer team battled back from two one-goal deficits to earn a 2-2 draw against Southern Connecticut State University at Jess Dow Field.
The Ravens came out strong in the opening half, creating several opportunities and keeping pressure on the Southern Connecticut State defense. The Owls struck first in the 28th minute, but Franklin Pierce quickly answered to level the match before halftime when Southern Connecticut State conceded an own goal in the 36th minute.
The Ravens carried their momentum into the second half, continuing to create chances as both sides battled for control. Southern Connecticut State regained the lead in the 48th minute, but Franklin Pierce responded with another strong push.
That persistence paid off in the 74th minute when Guillermo Rios found the back of the net, bringing the Ravens level at 2-2. Rios' goal capped another determined Franklin Pierce comeback and gave the Ravens renewed momentum heading into the final minutes.
Franklin Pierce continued to press for the go-ahead goal, creating multiple opportunities in the closing stages. Patrick Brisa Cervera and Dani Almeida both forced saves from Southern Connecticut State goalkeeper Diego Flores late in the match.
The Ravens finished the evening with 13 shots, while goalkeeper Toby Lewis made several important saves to help Franklin Pierce secure the road result.
