Women’s Basketball Unable to Overcome Early Deficit at Adelphi

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (1/28/26) – The Franklin Pierce University women's basketball team opened the night with strong defensive energy, but Adelphi's early run created separation that the Ravens could not overcome as they dropped a 60–29 road decision on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Franklin Pierce generated several early stops but struggled to convert on the offensive end as Adelphi opened the game with a 14–2 first quarter. Laia Llorente (Madrid, Spain) provided the Ravens' first field goal of the night with a driving finish in the second quarter.
  • Adelphi extended its lead through defensive pressure in the second period, creating turnovers and transition opportunities that pushed the margin heading into halftime.
  • The Ravens responded with an improved defensive effort in the third and fourth quarters, holding Adelphi to nine points in the final frame. Emily Mennillo (Orange, Conn.) added a driving layup midway through the fourth to highlight the late push.
  • Despite consistent effort throughout the second half, Franklin Pierce was unable to overcome the early deficit as Adelphi closed out the NE10 contest.
