Ravens Fall on the Road to Pace in NE10 Opener

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. (11/19/25) – The Franklin Pierce University women's basketball team continued its opening-week road stretch on Wednesday evening, falling 79–52 to Pace University inside the Goldstein Athletics Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Pace established control early, opening the game on an 18–4 first-quarter run and holding Franklin Pierce to just two made field goals in the period. Despite strong early defensive efforts from Laia Llorente and multiple offensive rebounds from the Ravens' frontcourt, Pace capitalized on turnovers and efficient perimeter shooting to build momentum.
  • Franklin Pierce answered in the second quarter with a much stronger offensive rhythm, scoring 20 points behind threes from Angelisse Melendez and steady production from the bench. However, the Setters remained hot from beyond the arc—hitting seven triples in the frame—to take a 45–24 advantage into halftime.
  • The Ravens continued to fight in the third quarter, highlighted by a three from Liv Murray and free throws from Emily Mennillo, but Pace's ball movement and perimeter shooting stretched the lead to 59–34 entering the fourth. Franklin Pierce posted its best shooting period in the final frame with 18 points, including strong drives from Janaya Prince-Baquero and second-chance baskets from the post, but the Setters maintained control throughout to secure the conference win.
BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS
  • Angelisse Melendez paced the Ravens with 10 points, including two threes, while adding two rebounds.
  • Emily Mennillo followed with 11 points, knocking down two triples and going 3-of-4 at the line.
  • The Ravens collected 38 rebounds and scored 25 points from the bench.
