HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Ravens would open the game quickly. In the 16th minute, Stepan Fiker (Prague, Czech Republic) would cross the ball over to Guillermo Avendaño (Luanco, Spain) who took a quick touch around a SNHU defender and drilled the ball into the back of the net.
  • Only a few minutes later though would the Penmen respond. Martin Zapata would dribble through traffic in the box, finding the right shot to tie the game up.
  • Not wanting to go into halftime even, Borja Blazquez (Toledo, Spain) would capitalize on a free kick in SNHU territory, feeding the ball to Julen Martin (Bilbao, Spain), who found Manuel Lorenzo (Buenos Aires, Argentina) on the outside for his first goal of the season.
  • In the second half, the Penmen found the equalizer when Tyler Kraft's shot just went past David Skorodumov (Ashland, Mass.).
  • With both teams in need of a game-winner, DJ Tucker (Hopedale, Mass.) would find Avendaño for his second goal of the night, netting the ball right past the Penmen goalkeeper for the lead.
  • With the minutes dwindling down for the Penmen, they tried to stay in the game, but the Ravens defense held strong, earning them a ticket to the NE10 Championship.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS

  • The Penmen outshot the Ravens, 17-10.
  • Skorodumov made 8 saves.
  • Avendaño led the team with 4 shots.
