SYRACUSE, N.Y. (October 5, 2013) – The Franklin
Pierce University men's soccer team came out on the short end
of a 1-0 decision against Le Moyne on Saturday afternoon at Ted
Grant Field in Syracuse, N.Y. The Ravens dropped their second
straight in falling to 3-5 overall and 2-3 in the Northeast-10,
while the Dolphins improved to 6-3 and 4-2 in league play.
Keleenna Onyeaka scored the
match's lone goal in the 35th minute when he
headed down a free kick attempt that entered into the Franklin
Pierce box, and fired low side past Franklin Pierce keeper
Sam Meza (Whittier, Calif.).Cal Filtch was
credited with an assist on the play, as he was the one who sent the
free kick deep into the Ravens' box.
Both teams fired off 12 shots in
the contest, but Onyeaka's strike was one of only three Le
Moyne shots to go on goal. Meza made a pair of saves despite
falling to 3-5 on the year.
Pedro Espindola (Sao Paulo,
Brazil) led the Ravens with three shots, while
Dallas Donovan (South Yarmouth, Mass.) followed
with a pair of attempts. Le Moyne keeper Matthew Silva stopped all
five shots he faced to earn the win to run his record to 6-3 on the
year.
Franklin Pierce returns to action
Tuesday when the Ravens play host to Stonehill at 7 p.m. in Sodexo
Field.
