Tiffany Johnson tosses in 13 points in the win
RINDGE, N.H. (November 28, 2012) -- The Franklin Pierce
University women's basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak
on Wednesday night by downing previously unbeaten Southern New
Hampshire, 69-51, at The Fieldhouse in Rindge. The Ravens improved
to 3-2 overall and 1-2 in the Northeast-10, while the Penmen fell
to 3-1 and 2-1 in league play.
Three Ravens scored in
double-figures, led by junior guard Brittany Martelle
(Brookfield, Conn.), who came off the bench to go 5-of-6
from behind the arc and pump in 15 points. It marked the second
time this season Martelle led the Ravens in scoring.
Senior guard Tiffany
Johnson (St. Albans, Vt.) followed with 13 points, while
freshman forward Kara Charette (Fairhaven, Mass.)

double-figure scoring game.
Franklin Pierce shot 43 percent
(26-of-61) from the field, including a 50 percent clip (9-of-18)
from three-point range. The Ravens also turned in a solid defensive
effort as well, limiting the Penmen to 35 percent shooting,
including a slim 13 percent clip (1-of-8) from behind the arc.
Franklin Pierce also forced SNHU into 14 turnovers, while swiping
10 steals, including a team-best three from junior guard
Kate McDonald (Fall River, Mass.).

quick double-digit lead and never looked back in sealing the
victory. The Ravens opened the game on a 19-9 run a little more
than five minutes into the contest, sparked by six points apiece
from Johnson and junior guard Brooke Coderre (Woonsocket,
R.I.). Coderre's six points came on a pair of triples,
while Martelle added a trey of her own to aid in the opening
run.
Martelle knocked down another
three-pointer minutes later to extend the Ravens lead to 29-13.

near the end of the half to to help Franklin Pierce take a 36-21
lead into the locker room at halftime.
Franklin Pierce led by as many as
27 points on multiple occasions during the second half, including
at 67-40 with 7:07 remaining on a layup from freshman guard
