UMass Lowell closed out a
back-and-forth first half with a 9-4 run to take a four-point lead
(31-27) into the break. Berry sparked the run with a three-pointer,
while sophomore Krissy Little (Concord,
N.H./Concord) capped the half with a three as well. The
River Hawks lead grew to seven (35-28) after a pair of Valente
free-throws a minute into the second half.
UMass Lowell's lead was still five
(47-42) after a Valente lay-up with 13:20 to play, but Franklin

with 8:23 to go, Franklin Pierce posted an 11-3 run over the next

to go.
Senior Toby Martin (Wayne,
Maine/Maranacook) was fouled and made both free-throws to
put the Ravens back in front by three with six seconds left. UMass
Lowell had one last shot to force overtime, but Berry's off-balance
three at the buzzer caromed off the backboard.
